Oktapodi (2007)

Though not a Oscar winner, it was nominated for one though. It tells the strory of two octopuses in love and to what lengths they will go for their loved one. Very cute(yes cute!) animation and story.




The Danish Poet (2006)

Now this sort film just leaves you...musing. It really leaves you thinking about our existence and we as a person came into being and what would have happened if our parents never met. I cannot say anyting more about it, because it has to be seen.





The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation (2005)

Ryan (2004)

This short film is an interview of Ryan Larkin by Chris Landerth. An artistic way to visualise the dark side of our personalities. Again cant be explained but must be seen. Ryan Larkin is a Canadian animator who had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.

In this post I will try to post some of the best Animated Shorts that had won or was either nominated for the Oscars (I will be primarily focusing on the shorts since the 2000's).


Logorama (2009)

I found this animated short is quite interesting. It explores How much we ientify things around us by its logos. By using more than 2500 logos, it depicts events taking place in a "logofied" Los Angeles.

La Maison en Petits Cubes (2008)

This short film lacks any sort of dialogue and yet tells a very powerful story. I enjoyed tis a lot and it has inspired me a lot. It is quite nostalgic. It tells the story of lonely old man, who live in a world where the water level keeps on rising.







Peter and the Wolf (2007)

Now watching this short was fun. I sometimes found it hard to believe that this is an animated short. It is that good.

Now this is based a childrens strory by Sergei Prokofiev written in 1936. This stop motion animation relies mostly on music and lacks any dialogue of sorts.
